English name: isoalcohols
CAS:2425-77-6
Alias: 2-alkyl fatty alcohol; Isohexadecanol (2-hexyl decanol); β- Branched primary alcohol; Guerbet alcohol
Performance characteristics and use
Compared with normal fatty alcohol, the physical properties of isomeric fatty alcohol are quite different. Due to its branched chain, the product has a network structure, which makes the isomeric alcohol and its derivatives have good oxidation stability, low freezing point (- 16 ℃), low irritation, and good compatibility with various oily agents and inactive substances. It is a saturated alcohol with the characteristics of higher fatty primary alcohol. Its appearance is a colorless and odorless viscous liquid.
Isoaliphatic alcohols are widely used in cosmetics, fiber finishes, printing ink auxiliaries, textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, and advanced lubricant additives.
Isoalcohols have the characteristics of colorless, tasteless and low irritation to the skin. They are used in cosmetics to increase the permeability to the skin, improve the moisturizing effect, and make it bright but not greasy. As an oily component for the lubrication, softness, and moisture of the skin, they can be used to produce high-grade cream, whitening cream, nail polish, and lipstick. It can partially replace the high-valent squalane.
The surfactant of the sulfate of isomeric alcohol and ethylene oxide adduct has strong wetting power and low foaming property. It has good washing power and diffusivity, and can replace isotriadecanol. It can be used in washing, mercerizing, dyeing and other processes in the textile industry to improve the processing speed and product quality. Isohydrin has become an important higher fatty alcohol in industrial production due to its special structure and specific properties.
